My kids have been nuts for Spider Man 3, and I must say that I enjoyed it as well. These pictures were from the 3rd night that we watched it, and Reed always runs and puts his spider man suit on. He has worn it for a solid two months straight and the pore thing has holes in it, but he insists on wearing it. My kiddos were trying to do tricks. AHHHH to be a kid again!

The Message
I feel very inclined to pass this on. My aunt sent this to our family after my other aunt passed away a few months ago. My mother read it first and practically begged me to read it. I told her I would "eventually", but I was too busy at the time. Besides, the only time I read a book, I am usually sitting poolside at a nice hotel reading a light and airy beach read. My mother passed it around the family and even my dad read it. WE ARE NOT READERS! While I was very skeptical at first, I read it with an open mind. The first page has you hooked and you can easily read it in one day. Though some parts leave you questioning, if you can continue on through the end, you will understand what the true message is. I feel like being a better person, a better wife, a better daughter, a better mother , and a better friend. Grab some tissues! Especially if you have lost a loved one. You can order here. My life is complicated. I have way too many irons in the fire. I struggle daily with balancing my business and my family. My business sometimes consumes me and I am trying to eventually find a happy medium. Hence the title of my blog: the pursuit of happiness. I will go in more depth on a later post. good night!

ME!
So this is what I was wearing while riding the motor cooler. I'm such a dork. It was 92 degrees outside, so there went my plan for some jeans and a cute jacket. Pretend like you don't see the waterhose...OK! just a quick pic, we were running late. I did not make my goal of losing 10 lbs before the homecoming....I am stuck at a 6 lb plateau. arggg!

TCU Homecoming
I went to the TCU Homecoming over the weekend. I can't believe that I started college 16 years ago. It seems like yesterday and I still feel young. My friends and I saw this guy riding one of these motorized coolers. We stopped him and had to check it out. Of course we each had to give it a whirl around the parking lot. I'm sure we got some laughs beings we were all in high heels. Lot's of looks and smiles. I could have easily seen myself wiping out on this thing, but fortunetly that didn't happen. Monday morning I got an email from one of my friends and she said she has to have one for her upcoming camping trip. We exchanged some laughs back and fort over email and then my other friend wrote this:
On a more personal note, I had too much fun & have also been thinking a lot about all the crazy times we had in college. I almost want to pull out my box of flash pictures after running into all of the Lambda Chi’s. It’s funny how things work out though & I have to say I’m thankful we ended up where we are & w/the guys we are with. And after all that we’ve been through as friends (some good, some bad)…we’ve all managed to stay close & keep our friendships growing through the years & through our life changes. For that I’m so thankful! I’m sorry, but I guess all the reminiscing sort of got to me & I’m feeling a little sappy right now. Anyway, I love you girls & I’m thankful you are both in my life. That’s all the sappiness I can handle for one day. Let’s start planning our next adventure…a girl’s night & this time let’s follow through!!! I need a night of dancing my butt off!!!
I'm glad I have friends like this, and I am sorry that our other dear friends couldn't make the game. We have a group of 7 friends that we actually graduated high school together, and 4 of us went on to college together, but we all still meet up at least once a year and catch up. It's a good deal.

Market finds
I went to the Dallas market home and gift show today, and look at my goodies. I know, a little off track from home goods, which is why I originally went, but I couldn't resist running up to the cash and carry temporaries. Glad I did. I got a hat, 3 necklaces, 3 earrings, and a bracelet for $39.95. I love wholesale! Back to the home goodies, I really did not plan on buying anything, I was just looking for a few clients, but I happened to find my favorite pottery store was no longer there, but..... they had a few pieces still lingering and I got a set of 3 pots, originally $69 wholesale for $20 bucks!!! I actually got 2 sets. They are really cool and I can't believe they were still there. I guess it was meant to be!

Forgotten
The other night, my little "sweet" Reed was very cranky and whiny. I don't tolerate whiny very good, and I knew he was just tired, so I told him that he needed to go to bed. I picked him up and loved him and rocked him a bit, but he kept whining and said he was not sleepy. So I told him to go to the couch and watch TV, knowing fully that he would just crash the minute he sat down. I was doing some work on my computer and everyone else in the house had crashed. I finally hit my crashing point and started to head to bed, but I noticed a light was left on. Good thing, because look what I almost stumbled into. I had completely forgot about him (bad mommy, I know). I felt so bad and I scooped him up and tucked him into bed with me and my hubby. I prefer him to sleep in his own bed, but sometimes I can't resist cuddling with this creature! NOTICE: the backwards underwear...one of his many quirks, lol!

Back to School
and he's absolutely thrilled....can you tell? I was always so excited to go to school. I would repack and organize my backpack a million times....try on my first day outfit sveral times...I loved the smell of my brand new shoes. School was fun. I had friends to play with and artwork to do...fun..fun...fun! Not for this boy. He's a cranky morning person. He gets bored at school, and really does not care to be graded for discipline every day. He has told me several times that he would just teach himself. What a fun year I have ahead of me!

A lifestyle change
For those who read my last entry, I have recently returned from Colorado after attending my aunt's funeral. She died from brain cancer. She became aware of her tumors just a couple of months before she passed away. Now, some say that is a blessing because she did not have to go through all of that suffering, but those short months just went so fast. I really thought she could pull through it. They kind of kept us guessing as to whether the tumors were cancer or not. So on our 26 hour round trip, My parents and I questioned....just what had she done in her life to get this awful disease. Apparently we all have cancer....It is up to our immune system to keep it under control....which means....FOOD...the ones with antioxidants...can be helpful. As for our environmental effects...well...we can't always control that. I have been quiet this week, because I have decided to get my life back on track....actually go to the grocery store... plan meals....plan snacks...exercise my rear off...ect. I actually do know how to eat (I have a BS degree in Nutrition), but I let my crazy life get in the way. you know ...the convenient one! Anyways, I will share my Changes/Goals later. For now, I am off to bed.

LIVE WELL*LAUGH OFTEN*LOVE MUCH
This sign lives in my laundry room. It's a reminder as to what life is really all about. A few days ago my cousin's wife gave birth to healthy triplets. Such a joy and relief because they have been trying to have a baby for quite some time. The next day, his mother, my aunt, passed away. She did not even know the babies were born. Her sickness came on so quickly, and it seemed like a month passed and she was gone. I will be heading to Colorado tomorrow. Wrap your arms around your loved ones and remember live well, laugh often and love much. I know my aunt did.
